What is the Zoom teeth whitening procedure?
The Zoom teeth whitening system can vastly improve the appearance of stained or discolored teeth, making them up to eight shades lighter. Our LA-based dentist Dr. Neda Naim, a specialist in cosmetic dentistry, regularly uses the Zoom technique to treat patients with stubborn stains, significantly brightening the smiles of her patients.
What causes staining and discoloration in teeth?
Staining is caused by a variety of factors. Smoking, drinking coffee, tea, red wine and eating certain stain-causing foods, such as blueberries and blackberries can tarnish the teeth. Certain medications, the natural process of aging and dental injury can also contribute to tooth discoloration.
What happens during a Zoom WhiteSpeed in-office treatment?
During an initial consultation, Dr. Naim will examine your teeth, after which an appointment for your teeth whitening can be made. To begin the procedure, Dr. Naim applies a hydrogen peroxide containing gel over the teeth. After the gel has been applied, Dr. Naim illuminates the teeth with a special lamp, which activates the teeth bleaching process. The hydrogen peroxide, the active bleaching ingredient, is broken down and enters the enamel and dentin, removing discoloration and whitening the teeth. Light intensity can be controlled to ensure your comfort during the whitening process.
