One of the quickest and most effective ways to correct minor dental and orthodontic complaints is through the application of porcelain veneers. These custom-created shells of porcelain material are designed to fit over your existing teeth to provide an immediate improvement in the appearance of your smile. They provide long-lasting results and do not require extensive alterations to the existing tooth structure.
Dr. Naim, who is one of the best cosmetic dentists in Los Angeles, works with her team of highly skilled dental ceramicists to provide outstanding results to those seeking to improve their smiles with dental veneers.
DO YOU FEEL TOO MUCH PAIN?
If you suffer from minor aesthetic dental issues and wish to improve the overall appearance of your smile, porcelain veneers might be the right choice for you. Porcelain veneers are able to correct a wide variety of dental imperfections, including:
Tooth discoloration
Chipped, broken or fractured teeth
Uneven or irregularly shaped teeth
Minor tooth misalignments
Gaps between teeth
While they are suitable for a great number of people, porcelain veneers are not an appropriate solution for everyone. Although veneers are quite strong, they are susceptible to cracking and chipping, particularly with individuals who grind or clench their teeth. Veneers are also unsuitable for individuals who have unhealthy or weak teeth, for example, those suffering from gum disease or tooth decay. During your initial consultation, Dr. Naim will assess the overall health of your mouth to determine whether porcelain veneers are the best solution for you.
PREPLESS VS. TRADITIONAL PORCELAIN VENEERS
There are two categories of porcelain veneers in use today – traditional and prepress. With traditional veneers, a small layer of the tooth enamel is removed before the veneer is fitted onto the tooth; however, the goal is always to remove as little of the tooth enamel as possible. Prepless veneers do not require any modification to the tooth surface and can be applied directly to the existing tooth enamel. As such, prepless veneers are fully reversible, while traditional veneers are not.
Prepless veneers are not an option for all patients. Some cosmetic problems cannot be resolved with prepless veneers, in which case Dr. Naim will recommend traditional veneers. When determining whether a patient is a candidate for prepless veneers, Dr. Naim will assess the position and initial condition of the teeth to determine if the desired result can be achieved with prepless veneers.
